The Super Bowl commercial that introduced the saying won five awards at the Cannes Lions 58th International Festival of Creativity held in Cannes, France, the website said. The commercial—starring Detroit rapper Eminem and featuring the riff from his Academy Award winning track “Lose Yourself”—won four “Gold Lions” for Best Direction, Best Use of Music, Best Script, Best Automotive Commercial and Best Editing; and a “Bronze Lion” for Best Editing, at the award show to honor creativity in communications, the story said. o As Chrysler emerged from bankruptcy in 2009, the reorganized Fiat-controlled automaker reasonably concluded that it needed to improve the minivans that had been corporate mainstays for a quarter-century, a New York Times story said. Changes were deemed necessary even though Chrysler had just introduced—as 2008 models—fifth-generation minivans redesigned while the company was struggling to stay afloat and cutting costs wherever it could. Returning to the drawing board must have caused engineers and designers to swallow whatever corporate pride remained, but their latest efforts have paid off, writer Cheryl Jensen said. The interior appointments of Chrysler’s previous vans didn’t measure up to the competition, but that has finally changed, she noted. The test model’s cabin was every bit as handsome and practical as those of the Odyssey or Toyota Sienna, Jensen said. Chrysler has made some huge improvements to the Town & Country, particularly to its interior and powertrain, she concluded, and it may not be a clear winner over competing vans, but it has become competitive once again.

o U.S. sales of cars and light trucks are rebounding in June after falling for the first time in nine months in May, analysts told the Automotive News. June increases projected by three research firms range from 8 percent to 14 percent, the trade paper said. May's sales dropped 4 percent from a year earlier as consumers confronted rising gasoline prices, reduced incentives, and vehicle shortages caused by the March earthquake in Japan, the publication said. June's seasonally adjusted annual sales rate will be in the 12 million range when automakers' results are announced on July 1, according to the forecasts, the Automotive News said.

The Chargers of the late 1960s and early ’70s are favorites with classic car enthusiasts, having been immortalized in the TV series, “The Dukes of Hazzard” and in one of Hollywood’s most famous car chases in the movie “Bullitt,” Wilson noted. Combined with a rear deck spoiler, standard 19-inch tires and alloy wheels, dual chrome tailpipes, and “Toxic Orange Pearl Coat” paint, this week’s test Charger R/T AWD is a very sporty looking full-size sedan, Wilson said. It's still upright and basic, but the surfaces and trims have given it a softer, less angular parts-bin look, he said. With the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, you get 20.6 inches of additional wheelbase—a total of 116 inches—plus a bigger rear-seat design, which together takes the Wrangler from essentially feeling like a 2+2 in base form up to a true four- or five-seater, Halvorson said. The ride quality is better and more settled, while you also get a lot more interior space that can be used for cargo, his review noted. This year, two special editions—the Mojave, and the Call of Duty: Black Ops cater to off-roaders who want a distinct look, the story said.

o Success (in the U.S. market) is by no means guaranteed, but over the last half-century or so, the 500 — Cinquecento, in Italian — has beaten longer odds, said New York Times writer Jerry Garrett. When he drove the Americanized 500 through the American Southwest, Garrett concluded that it is the best 500 yet, he said in his Times review. American-spec 500s benefit from an advanced 101-horsepower 1.4-liter MultiAir 4-cylinder engine, he said. The driving experience was enhanced by comfortable seating, good visibility, a thick steering wheel and an armrest not found in European models, Garrett said. The cabin feels airy, with large windows and an available panoramic glass sunroof, he said. The seats (and cup holders) were reconfigured to accommodate fuller-figured Americans, he said. American versions are noticeably quieter inside, and to cope with North America’s temperature extremes, the heating and air-conditioning system was improved, Garrett said. "The consensus of people I invited along as passengers was that traveling in the car made them feel young, sporty and 'very European,'” Garrett wrote. And the arrival of such an economical car as gas prices flirt with $4 a gallon seems timely - if you can just find one, he said.

o While the styling of the 2011 Chrysler 300 isn't as distinctive as the original, it remains handsome enough, the Chicago Tribune said. But it's what Chrysler did inside and under the hood, that makes this update an undeniable success, the paper said. From the time you slide into the seat and grip the fat steering wheel, you know this will be a comfortable ride, the article said. Parting shot: Chrysler turns a good car into a great car, the Tribune said.

o Quibbles aside, what has emerged over the past month has been our love for the Grand Cherokee's just-right size, the editors of Automobile Magazine said. One editor's wife was also impressed with the Grand Cherokee's maneuverability; she had no problem parallel-parking the Grand Cherokee on the packed streets of Chicago, the article said. Editor-in-chief Jean Jennings finds it to be the perfect height for entry and egress, and she loves its planted feeling on the freeway, the article said. The rest of us are generally in agreement with the boss: the Grand Cherokee is the Goldilocks of SUVs, neither too large nor too small, the article said.

Fiat to hit Big Apple, New York Post
o The Fiat 500, dressed up this time with more Italian style and muscle, hopes to win over pace-setting urban drivers who fear that $5 a gallon gas could become the new normal, the New York Post said. New data show sales of sub-compacts have shot up 30 percent in March from a year ago due to an unprecedented array of inexpensive and lovable models priced in the $15,000 range but able to deliver high mileage of 38 mpg or better, the article said. Today, with New Yorkers paying close to $4 a gallon, Fiat dealers are hoping they have the hottest Italian model on Gotham's streets, the Post said.

o About 600 tricked out Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger, Challenger and Magnum LX and LC platform cars from 27 states are in Irvine, Calif., for the 6th annual Spring Festival of LXs sponsored by SoCalX, USA Today said. Greeting the Hemi faithful will be Dodge CEO and Chrysler design chief Ralph Gilles, the paper said. Also imported from Detroit will be show car versions of the redone 2011 Charger and 300, the paper said. And a charity autocross will feature the 2011 Dodge Challenger R/T, the paper said.

o There are now 160 models on the market that get 30 or more miles per gallon; even more are on the way as automakers rush to hit the most aggressive fuel-economy requirements since the government began regulating efficiency in the mid-1970s, the Detroit Free Press said. Yet, even as unleaded regular approaches $4 a gallon, consumer acceptance of high-mileage technology has been lukewarm at best, the Free
Press said. “We found that the American consumer will buy small, more fuel-efficient cars for literally three to four months. And then three or four months later, we go right back to buying big cars,” said Rebecca Lindland of IHS Automotive in the article.

o The Dodge Challenger SRT8 starts the year as the "Inaugural Edition 392 Hemi," and it's packing more power, with better looking interior materials and a gutsy sound it did not have before, the San Fernando (Calif.) Sun said. The driver gets the 392 Hemi message at the first punch of the start button: The engine jumps to life with a rev and a growl - and then the day gets interesting, the sun said. Top speed has been increased to more than 180 mph with the manual transmission or 173 mph in the automatic, the review said. Technology deserves a round of applause because the car has more power and better fuel economy, but the curb weight is up by 26 to 28 pounds manual/ automatic, the article said. The engineers recalibrated the suspension for improved balance, cornering and steering responsiveness, the review said. But if any car needed a rearview camera, it's this one, the Sun noted. Overall, this big coupe is more rewarding to drive, and it still has its original value factors of seat belts for five, splitfolding seatback and a huge trunk, the Sun said.


o It's hard to find a part that hasn't been reconsidered, retooled and improved, Popular Mechanics said of the new Chrysler 200. The 200 is secure on the road and has plenty of pep, thanks to a six-speed automatic transmission coupled to either the 2.4-liter four-cylinder or Chrysler's all-new Pentastar V6, the magazine said. With improved safety technology, the whole package is exponentially more competitive in the midsize market, the review said. The 173-hp, four-cylinder Touring model is more than capable of responding to the challenges of a road best suited to sports cars or motorcycles, Popular Mechanics said. Most impressive, perhaps, is that the interior is quiet and lushly appointed, and thus pleasant to drive, the magazine said.

On the plus side, 200 convertible roomier than rivals, Detroit News, March 10
o The Chrysler 200 Convertible is the only convertible comfortable enough to seat four adults for less than $30,000 – this alone makes it special, the Detroit News said. This car got all of the same improvements as the sedan and still allows for al fresco driving, the News said. The carryover soft- or hard-top roofs were well executed the first time around, provide a quiet ride with the top up, and drop in under 30 seconds, the article said. Like the 200, the interior is improved and buyers will appreciate the extra attention to detail, the article said. For someone who just has to have a convertible, doesn't want to spend too much money and wants to carry at least two other adults, the Chrysler 200 convertible is a viable — and decent — option, the News said

Its Friday late in the day and we are all ready for the weekend. What a week we have all had. Tomorrow will be a great and we will selling lots of cars. If you have seen something you like I think it would be best if you got here early. I have seen many people lose the car they wanted because of waiting. The dealership opens at 9 I will try and be here before 8:30 but I just might try to have breakfast with the family.

We have a couple of the new Chrysler 200's if you would like to come test drive one of them. The 300 is not here yet but will soon hopefully. Its gotta be Jeep weather and we have plenty of 2011 Jeep Wranglers to chose from. Just imagine having the top off and driving to the lake. That would be cool.
